Two routes, one dip spin line and one automatic line

Riya Zinc Flake Coatings runs two zinc aluminium flake routes on two lines. Water based GEOPERT from Zincotec Co. Ltd. is the default on the dip spin line: no wastewater, no air pollution, and red rust held off past 1,500 hours of salt spray. Zintek and Techdip systems run on a separate solvent based automatic line for the work that calls for it. Both give cathodic protection with no hydrogen embrittlement risk, which is why zinc flake is specified on high tensile fasteners of class 10.9 and above.

  • Water based silver: GEOPERT 500, 505 and 720, six to eight micron layers, up to 1,500 hours salt spray, heat resistance to 450 C.
  • Water based black: BLACKPERT in glossy, semi gloss and matte, five to ten microns, dip spin or spray.
  • Solvent based on the automatic line: Zintek 200 in silver, Zintek 300 HP in deep black, finished with Techdip Black SL. Chosen when the part geometry, substrate or customer specification calls for it.
  • Process: oil removal, shot blasting, coating, curing, cooling.
  • Capacity of 120 tonnes a month, open for third party job work.

Choosing between them

Water based is the default here: no fire risk, almost no odour, simpler to store and handle, and thinner six to ten micron layers. The solvent based automatic line is kept for parts whose geometry or customer specification asks for it. Tell us the part and the salt spray figure you have to hit, and we will tell you which route suits it.

The solvent based automatic line

Zintek base coats finished with a Techdip top coat, run when the part geometry, the substrate or your own specification calls for it. Figures below are the system manufacturer’s published data; the result guaranteed for your part is agreed against your drawing.

ProductTypePublished performance
Zintek 200Solvent based silver base coatOver 1,000 hours neutral salt spray to ISO 9227 without visible corrosion, at around 8 microns total in two layers. Free of Cr(VI), cadmium, cobalt, lead and nickel.
Zintek 300 HPSolvent based deep black base coat, dip spin480 hours neutral salt spray or more in a three layer build, and 720 hours or more in combination with a top coat. No hydrogen embrittlement.
Techdip Black SL (HC)Organic top coat with integrated lubricantControlled coefficient of friction of approximately 0.13 to ISO, with barrier corrosion protection and good adhesion, chemical and UV resistance.
