The founding unit, still the largest

PR Products opened on Plot 40 in 2010 and everything else in the group grew out of it. It cold forges nuts and specials, turns precision components, and keeps its own tool room so the tooling for a new part is made on the same site as the part itself.

Four units have been added since, and every one of them was built to finish work that starts here. A part can be forged, turned, tapped, plated, zinc flake coated and given a pre-applied thread treatment without leaving Hissar Road, which is the whole point of the group being laid out the way it is.

This unit forges 100 to 125 tonnes a month, with PR Fasteners adding another 125, under one IATF 16949 quality system and one laboratory that signs off every batch.

From wire rod to finished nut

What happens on the former

Cold forging moves the metal instead of cutting it away, so the grain follows the shape of the nut. These are the stations a blank passes through on the multi station formers here.

  1. 01Wire rod in

Certified coil in the ordered grade is straightened and fed into the former.

  2. 02Cut off

The rod is sheared to a slug of exactly the volume the finished nut needs.

  3. 03Upset

The slug is struck between dies, shorter and wider, so the metal fills the form.

  4. 04Hex form

Successive stations square the blank into the hexagon and set the chamfers.

  5. 05Pierce

The centre web is punched out, leaving the bore ready for the tap.

  6. 06Tap and finish

Threads are cut on the tapping line, then the batch goes to the lab before coating.

Specials follow the same route with their own tooling, made in the tool room on this site.

Start with a drawing

Send the part and the finish you need. An engineer reads it, and if this unit cannot run it we will tell you which of the other four can.
